Andrea Smith is the Vice President, Corporate Communications for NV Energy, where she has been employed since 2001.
She has held numerous positions in marketing, communications, public relations and government affairs throughout her career. Prior to joining NV Energy, she was a senior public information officer at the city of Las Vegas, which followed her stint as deputy chief of staff for Nevada’s lieutenant governor. Her experience also includes time with two advertising and public relations firms where her client base included gaming, utility, political, government and nonprofit organizations.
A Nevada resident for 30 years, Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in marketing from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She is currently the board chair for DISCOVERY Children’s Museum and board member of the University Nevada, Las Vegas Football Foundation. Her community service also includes work with many other local organizations including Faith Lutheran Middle and High School, Project 150, United Way of Southern Nevada, Grant a Gift Autism Foundation, Voices in Voting, Child Focus, the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce Leadership Council and Business Council, and the Census 2000 Committee.
A 2004 graduate of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber’s Leadership Las Vegas program, she also holds a certificate in utility management from Willamette University and is a member of the UNLV Alumni Association.
